HOW WE UNDERSTAND CSR
Cartonajes Salinas supports all its Corporate Social Responsibility actions around the Sustainable Development Goal approved in 1987 by the World Commission on Environment and Development:
A development that meets the needs of the present without jeopardizing the ability of future generations to meet their own needs.
Assuming this objective as a necessary challenge, we understand that SUSTAINABILITY is an END that consists of generating positive impacts as a company. At a social, economic and environmental level.
CORPORATE SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY is the MEANS to achieve it, as Fernando Navarro García affirms: the current importance of CSR responds to the change that is taking place in the company’s vision, when the economic benefit is not separable from the social and ecological benefit . What is new is to see in this integration one of the keys to the competitiveness of our companies.
Since 2015, the year of the birth of BOXES OF DREAMS, Salinas begins to train in CSR, to know the SDGs and the different agreements and European and world agendas on sustainability issues.
In 2018 our first triennial CSR plan comes to light.
ECOVADIS
EcoVadis provides holistic Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) ratings service of companies, delivered via a global cloud-based SaaS platform.
The EcoVadis Rating covers a broad range of non-financial management systems including Environmental, Labor & Human Rights, Ethics and Sustainable Procurement impacts.
Each company is rated on the material issues as they pertain to their company’s size, location and industry.
These evidence-based assessments are refined into easy to read scorecards, providing zero to one hundred (0-100) scores, and medals (bronze, silver, gold), when applicable.
Additionally, the scorecards provide guidance on strengths and improvement areas, which the rated companies may use to focus their sustainability efforts and develop corrective action plans to improve their CSR performance.
GLOBAL COMPACT
The United Nations Global Compact is an appeal to companies and organizations to align their strategies and operations with Ten Universal Principles on human rights, labor standards, the environment and the fight against corruption. It has the UN mandate to promote the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in the private sector.
Its mission is to generate an international movement of sustainable companies to create the world we want. Also, an unmatched ability to link companies with other actors working to promote sustainable development: governments, civil society and the United Nations.
The Spanish Network, since its creation, is one of the first national platforms of the Global Compact and the local network with the largest number of signatories. Its management model and its organizational structure is one of the most advanced in the Global Compact and it is also an outstanding local network for the type of activities and tools created to promote the implementation of the Ten Principles of the Global Compact and sensitize the private sector to contribute to the goals of the UN.
FSC
FSC is a global, non-profit organization dedicated to promoting responsible forest management worldwide.
FSC facilitates the development of standards, ensures the monitoring of forest projects and protects the FSC trademark so that consumers can choose products that come from well-managed forests.
After more than a decade of operation, the FSC Spain initiative has managed to involve representatives of all interest groups, until it became one of the benchmark socio-environmental certification systems for forest owners, the leading companies in the market , public administrations and citizens.
Cartonajes Salinas is an FSC certified company and, together with the organization, they study each project in order to apply the corresponding FSC logo.
ISO 14001
If we had to summarize the ISO 14001 standard in one sentence it would be “Protection of the environment”. How do we do it? The answer is simple, through the management of environmental risks that may arise with the development of our business activity.
The International Organization for Standardization or ISO (International Organization for Standardization of its acronym in English) focuses on achieving international standards. In the case of the ISO 14001 standard, the objective is to implement an Environmental Management System fulfilling the necessary requirements.
The ISO 14001 standard works according to the PDCA method, that is, Plan, Do, Verify and Act.
BOXES OF DREAMS
BOXES OF DREAMS is our corporate volunteer platform. Our intention is to bring together all our interest groups: workers, clients, suppliers, etc … with the idea of communicating and involving all these groups in our solidarity projects. Therefore, everything is done around our ANNUAL SOLIDARITY CAREER.
Boxes of Dreams is a work group made up 100% of Salinas workers, including managers, managers and operators, all volunteers whose work is threefold: organizing the solidarity race, approving the solidarity projects and monitoring and giving visibility to those projects. among all our stakeholders.
We believe that:
1.- CREATE NGO ALLIANCES – COMPANIES IS IMPORTANT
- Companies must be co-creators from the beginning and feel part of the results obtained. They must be “traveling companions.
- NGOs teach the company the importance of creating social value.
- Companies are going to demand more from NGOs, they teach effectiveness.
- It is very important to find common interests, to be clear, transparent, consistent with our mission and thus, create WIN-WIN alliances.
2.- CSR HELPS TO REACH BUSINESS EXCELLENCE.
- It generates personal satisfaction and pride of belonging.
- It requires a change in the management culture, because it integrates all stakeholders: shareholders, managers, employees, clients, suppliers …
- It is a way of understanding business ethics.
3.- THE GLOBAL ALLIANCE FOR DEVELOPMENT IS ABOUT EVERYONE.
- In 2015, the UN recognizes the importance of business activity to achieve compliance with the Sustainable Development Goals. It is a challenge for the private sector.
